An intermodal facility needed to increase their traffic security due to container theft. RoadBlade International was called upon to implement a permanent solution. Both inbound and outbound lanes were a concern. A directional spike system, which safely permits vehicles to enter, but not exit, was installed at the inbound lane.
The outbound lane required a more sophisticated security system to resolve access issues. A Permanent RoadBlade tyre shredder with loop sensors was installed to operate in conjunction with an arm barrier and stop/go light.
How a typical system works
As a vehicle approaches the a gate or checkpoint, the stop/go light and arm barrier notify the driver if it is safe to proceed. If the stop/go light indicates red, the arm barrier is down and the RoadBlade's retractable blades are active(up).
Should a vehicle break through the arm barrier, the RoadBlade will slice the vehicle's tyres, limiting vehicle damage while increasing gate security.
When authorization is granted to leave the facility, the stop/go light will turn green, the arm barrier is raised and the blades will go down, allowing the vehicle to safely proceed.
Multiple activation methods
To activate the system, the operator may use the provided pendant control included in the Permanent RoadBlade tire shredder package or purchase additional activation devices, including a wireless remote and junction box. Go to the accessories page for additional information. |
